This book is now available on Amazon Kindle and is doing very well.

It is an easy to understand introduction to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which will come into force in the UK on 25th May 2018.

If your business is still in the early stages of working towards compliance, this might be an interesting read for you.  It is written in an easy-going style and introduces you to GDPR from a practical, hoteliers perspective.

Don’t Make The Mistake…

…of believing that GDPR compliance is all about investing in IT.  It isn’t.

Of course good technology is important, but it’s not where you should focus your initial efforts.

You really need to understand what personal data you use and where it goes.

That’s what really matters.  So start there.

Nor should you believe that the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) in the UK is going to be running around hitting every non-compliant business with a €20 million fine.  They won’t.  They are more interested in encouraging good data practice when it comes to personally identifiable information (PII).

That’s where your real challenge lies.  Hotels hold a lot of PII.  This book is a good place to establish your initial awareness of what you need to be thinking about.

It is not a technical or legal reference.  Which means it is reasonably easy to read.
